3 Things I wish I knew as a Junior Engineer at Microsoft
Congrats! You’re starting your role as a software engineer for the first time and you’re more excited than you have ever been.
I started my career 2 years ago and learned a lot more than I thought I would. There were moments where I succeeded and many where I failed and wished I had someone guide me with their experiences. I didn’t have that as much as I wish I did so I hope I can fill the gap for you to make starting your role a little bit easier.
Sure, maybe I don’t have the same credentials as a senior engineer but I hope I can share some things I’ve noticed before I get too old and forget what it’s like to be in your shoes. I’m still working and I haven’t been fired yet so I’m sure I’m doing something right that I can talk about.
This is the beginning of a new series I’m interested in starting. If this was interesting to you, please leave an impression to let me know this content was meaningful to you.
1. Spend time figuring out your issues on your own
You’re not helpless. Whether you came out of college, graduated from a coding bootcamp or learned computer science any other way, you were able to learn on your own and solve your own problems.
