I got a product question at Google about photos
I told them I hate taking pictures of my food.
I want to apologize. I’m someone who likes to eat food, not look at it. I never really understood why some of my friends like to let their “camera eat first”. The pattern is usually the same
- My friends and I are hungry so we go out to eat at a place like Tilikum Place Cafe
- I get irrationally hungry waiting for my friends to take photos of their food.
- They gossip over how pretty the photo is and never look at them again
You’re probably wondering how this scenario got me into Google. Or maybe you’re not curious at all. I’ll tell you anyways.
The Google Product Question
I remember sweating in my seat virtually hearing the interviewer tell me he’s here to test me on “Googliness”.
It didn’t seem like a big deal, just tell him about some code design impact I had at work. Thought I would knock it out of the park but then I get a curve ball.
Interviewer: “Let’s switch gears, say you’re starting to work on a photo feature for Google photos…
