10% commission is too much.

Introduction

After building products on Gumroad for a year, I made around $7,000. If you don’t believe me, heres the photo for proof:

All my products are PDFs I wrote myself and linked to from my other social medias.

It felt like a nice way to build passive income. But if you’re a software engineer who made a business on a platform selling PDF’s, you’ll definitely feel like you could just make the platform yourself.

So that’s what I did.

Before we go into my story of rebuilding my own PDF marketplace, let me explain how I even started selling PDF’s in the first place.

Build a community and learn their problems.

I’ve been writing on LinkedIn for 4 years about entry-level software engineering, and evolved to mid-level engineering as I also got more experience.

This also meant I had people reach out and ask for video calls to ask about my experience whether it was about getting promoted or doing better in interviews.
