From 2021 to 2022, Google hired 30,000 employees. That’s a 20% increase from 144k to 170k. Is the bar getting lower? Are there more positions available?

Let’s go over some factors we usually don’t think about when applying to a job.

Google is on a Hiring Freeze

There’s an economic slowdown across the entire technology industry. I was even rejected from Meta before my interviews because of the current economy.

With a company wide email from Alphabet CEO, Sundar Pichai, candidates who are able to clear interviews may not be given an opportunity at Google because of current economic conditions.

From a mass hiring spree starting last year to tough economic times now, the opportunities at Google are becoming more and more limited.
